Flanagan Track Meet- March 3, 2007

Thanks for your return and support.

The first track meet of the season was held at Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines and was hosted by Miramar Optimist East Track Club.

The meet was again run very efficiently and although it started a bit past the 9:00 am start time, we were able to stay on schedule as we did last year and by 3:00 pm it was over. This is one of the most important assets of FLYTAF runs meets. The ability to finish in a reasonable time which allows all involved to enjoy the rest of their weekend and also to provide a competitive and fair meet for all to enjoy.

We will like to thank you all for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the next meet which will be hosted by Scott Lake Track Club and will be held at Moore Park 756 NW 36 St Miami 33127.

AAU Final Report- September 27, 2006

It was a very good season, the athletes had fun, they worked hard and did everything asked of them and though they all did not advance to the AAU Junior Olympics, they are all champions in the eyes of the coaches.

As in every organization’s first year, there were bumps in the road; lessons were learned and it will help for better planning in the future. The most important thing to remember is that this is for the athletes; tomorrow leaders and we are as coaches as trying our best to help in any way possible to ensure that the future are in great hands.

The FLYTAF team won a total of 37 medals at the JO, including 12 gold medals; that is 12 National Champions. It is a great achievement and we the coaches are very proud to be part of the achievement.

We will like to thank all of the athletes for a great season and most of all the parents, family members, friends and supporters for without you the season will not have been successful. We look forward to your continued support and will see you on the track in 07.

FSU Region 4 Junior Olympic Qualifier - June 26, 2006

The Inaugural FLYTAF Traveling Team participated in the Florida State AAU Region 4 Junior Olympic qualifier which sends the top four finishers in each event to the AAU Junior Olympic Games. The days were hot, the competition was tough, the athletes were ready, the parents were anxious, the coaches were confident and it added up to a successful journey on our way to the "big one", the Junior Olympics.

A total of 140 medals were proudly displayed by the FLYTAF team, 56 gold (first place), 25 silver (second place), 29 bronze (third place) and 30 bronze (forth place). There were many "stars" that shone very brightly and among them were the relay teams. A total of nine relay teams were entered into the competition and seven (7) of them won first place, the others were second and fourth. There were also many repeat first place winners which shows we have some very good athletes (we are not going to names individuals so as to not swell any heads) who someday may be on a larger stage such as the Olympics; running professionally or representing the USA. The first place finishers are listed as AAU Florida State Champions from Region 4 and have the honor of being recognized as the best in the State of Florida in their respective events.

Again, this is one of the reasons FLYTAF came into existence; to allow our athletes to be the best they can be, to provide them with an opportunity to grow and become productive members of society, to show them that the sky is the limit if the time and effort is always put forth in whatever they do. We are not finished; we have one more dance for the season; the JO.

A total of 90 athletes will be making the trip to the AAU Junior Olympics in Norfolk, Virginia from July 29th through August 5th; it will be fun and hopefully we will have as much success as we have experienced since the inception of FLYTAF.

One team, one beat, one rhythm.

FLYTAF Track Meet Report- July 9, 2006

The Inaugural FLYTAF Invitational meet was held on July 1st at Scott Lake Park. Although the meet was small in attendance, it mostly featured athletes who qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics which is being held in Norfolk's Virginia during the last week of July and the first week of August. The athletes got the opportunity to "tune-up" their performance before the big dance. We will like to thank Florida Elite Track Club from Orlando (Coach Ellis we hope you also enjoyed the beach after a hot day) who made the trip to the Southern part of the State for helping to make the meet a success. We will also like to thanks the parents and coaches for their support and wish all of the athlete's success at the JO.

One team, one beat, one rhythm. As we head to the finish line, to victory, can I hear you chant, fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly.

BAYTAF Track Meet Report- June 8, 2006

The Inaugural FLYTAF Traveling Team participated in the BAYTAF Classic over the Memorial Day weekend and by all accounts from the coaches, parents, family members' fellow competitors and BAYTAF officials', we are a force to be recognized. There were compliments all around and lots of questions as to how we did it but lets leave that for later. The good news:
FLYTAF won the team championship with 1,153 points, the second place team came in at 838. we won both the male and female divisions. The team brought back home a total of 143 medals with numerous first place finishes. A new record was also set in the process; the Bantam boys 100 meter sprint.

This is one of the reasons FLYTAF came into existence; to allow our athletes to be competitive, to provide our athlete with an opportunity to be the best, to teach and assist them in becoming the best they can be in whatever they choose (we hope it is track :). It was a great meet, many competitors from around the State, out of Sate and International. Many of the athletes will most likely compete against one another at the AAU State meet to decide who will represent the State Of Florida at the AAU Junior Olympics and it will be fun to see. The meet allowed our athletes to gage their progress and judging by the results, many of them have improved tremendously.
A "BIG" thank you to all of the coaches, parents, family members and most of all the athletes. Working as one, we have accomplished a lot. But we are not finished.
We have two more to go, the AAU State finals then the grand finals, the AAU Junior Olympics. One team, one beat, one rhythm. As we head to the finish line, to victory, can I hear you chant, fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly fly.

FLYTAF Championship Track Meet Results- May 1, 2006

FLYTAF's Inaugural Championship was held at Curtis Park on April 29- 30, 2006 and the gods were smiling down on us as the weather was just perfect for the two day meet; not too hot, no rain and at times a wonderful breeze; it was the perfect weather for a track meet. The athletes were ready, the coaches were ready, the parents were ready which led to a wonderful time; we had fun.

The Championship meet also is the benchmark to form the traveling team and the top eight finishers in each event has an opportunity to continue the season with the traveling team and reaching the final goal of competing in the AAU Junior Olympics which will be held in Norfolk’s Virginia beginning the last week of July and ending the first week of August.

The preliminary events were fiercely competed as each athlete tried their best to be among the top 8 finalist to return on Sunday and compete for the Gold medal. The finals were heated as the athletes not only competed for the Gold medal but also to have their names listed as record holders for their respective events since this was the Inaugural Championship and they were establishing the bar by which others to come must overcome. Athletes were presented with their medals (Gold, Silver or Bronze) after each event and they all displayed them very proudly. The Championship was not just for the athletes but also for the coaches and parents who competed against each other in 4x100 relays. It was a sight to see, many of them applying bengay before and after the event, (they are still hurting today) but they did show that they can run and are still competitive and that is what is reflected in their athletes today. To also mark this occasion, we have an extended gallery of photos for you viewing.

Over 500 athletes participated representing nine track clubs from Dade, Broward, Port St. Lucie and Melbourne areas and we will like to give a “special thanks” to M-Town Track Club who made the trip down from Melbourne each week to compete with us. We will also like to thanks Treasure Coast Track Club who also traveled from Port St. Lucie each week. We will also like to thank the local track clubs; North Dade, Scott Lake, Coconut Grove, Miramar West, Miramar East, Lauderdale Lakes and F.I.N.E.S.S.E for making this Inaugural year a success. Most important, we will like to thank the parents and athletes and all of our supporters because without you this will not have been possible.

We are not finished, we are now one team, one beat, one rhythm, we are FLYTAF and we are preparing for the AAU Junior Olympics. The first view of our power will be at the BAYTAF Invitational in Tampa on the Memorial Day weekend. The rest of the State will get an opportunity to see what’s coming their way. What we have accomplished to this point is just a preview of what is to come; the on-time track meets; the fairness of the results; the flexibility to change, the willingness to listen and address issues, the comrade of all clubs working as one providing a safe and competitive environment for your athlete to compete and last but not least, completing the meets early giving you time to do other things. We will like you to be there, continue to support us as we are trying to be the best Track organization in the State and with your help there is no reason why we cannot.

Track Meet Results- April 8, 2006

The Treasure Coast Port St. Lucie track meet held on April 8, 2006 was a grand success. There were over 564 athletes in attendance comprised of track clubs including Miramar Optimist West, Miramar Optimist East, Treasure Coast, MTown, Vero Striders, St. Petersburg Striders, Miami Scott Lakes, North Dade, Buccaneers, Florida Elite, F.I.N.E.S.S.E, Lauderdale Lakes, Hallandale and numerous unattached athletes. We all had a fabulous time.

As you may know, the track site was changed at the last minute due to a water main problem at Port St. Lucie High and the track meet was held at Sportmans Park West. Since the track at Sportmans Park West is not a regulated track the times were significantly skewed; therefore, the competitive times will not be posted.

We would like to thank all coaches and athletes for your participation and support.
We look forward to seeing you at the FLYTAF Championship Meet that will be held at on April 29th and April 30th.

Track Meet Results- March 11, 2006

Florida Youth Track & Field (FLYTAF) inaugural meet was held on March 11th at Curtis Park in the City Of Miami and was hosted by Scott Lake Track Club. The meet was a tremendous success with over 500 athletes from the ages of 5 to 17 participating. The meet which ran on a "rolling schedule" was completed at 3:40 pm and one of the most common responses from all involved, especially the parents and coaches was that "they do not know what to do with the extra time" since we were completed so early.

FLYTAF will like to thank all of the athletes, parents, coaches, family and friends who came out and supported this historical event and to commit to you that we will strive to improve upon each facet of the meet to ensure that it is always a success to all involved.

FLYTAF meets are open to all clubs; you do not have to be a member of the FLYTAF organization to participate.

Again, thank you all for the support and participation and we look forward to seeing you at the Lauderdale Lakes meet which will be held at Boyd Anderson High School on March 18th..
